Matthew Mahaley, LMT #14641
As a therapeutic massage therapist in Johnson City, TN Matthew is dedicated to helping people get back to a sense of normalcy after an injury or surgery. Introduced to therapeutic massage in 2009 after a debilitating neck injury, Matthew discovered a world of massage beyond relaxation. This personal experience ignited a passion for helping others overcome pain and restore mobility. In 2012 he became a Certified Personal Trainer with a focus in corrective exercise. Between 2012 and 2020 he became certified in teaching many other forms of group exercise, including group weights and kickboxing (one of his favorites).
Matthew attended Reflections of Health School of Massage in November 2022 and graduated in May 2023. From there he quickly received his license and dove in to learning as much as he could about Neuromuscular Therapy. In just a year and a half he completed 80 hours of continuing education, while only required to have 24 by the State of TN. From being licensed to opening Sambas Therapeutic Massage he has been in practice at Therapeutic Massage of Jonesborough.
As a massage therapist specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), he addresses a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including head and neck pain, shoulder and back injuries, sciatica, hip and knee issues, and foot and ankle pain such as plantar fasciitis. His goal is to help clients recover from injuries, manage pain effectively, and improve overall range of motion.

“I was specifically looking for therapeutic message and was lucky enough to find Matt. I’ve experienced significant improvement in my quality of life in a fairly short period of time. Relief from long-term chronic pain. I certainly recommend him.”

I’ve been to massage therapists on and off after an accident over 20 years ago resulted in continued neck pain… The doctors were talking about surgery, but I decided I would give massage therapy a try again. To my amazement, it started helping and the numbness gradually became more occasional instead of constant. Prior to my most recent appointment, Matt had taken a special class that deals specifically with my issue of numbness in the hands and tried the new techniques on me. I can’t really describe it, but it was obvious that there had been issues in my arms causing restricted blood flow to my hands. At the end of the session, I could feel the heat from the blood flowing again. It was amazing and crazy all at the same time. Thank you Matt!!

Matt Mahaley is absolutely the best! Last year, I had a fourth-level infusion on my neck, which eventually led to severe tennis elbow. The pain became excruciating, and with limited options left, I was considering pain management.
In my search for alternative treatments, I discovered medical massage therapy and was lucky enough to find Matt. He has a true gift! Matt puts your mind at ease with his clear explanations and respectful, professional manner. Thanks to his expertise, I’m starting to experience longer-lasting relief, and the stiffness in my neck and arm is finally easing up.
If you’re in pain and struggling to find relief, give Matt a call. You won’t regret it – it’s the best decision I’ve made!

Matt Mahaley is an amazing massage therapist. He fixed my neck, a neck that would not turn, hasn’t turned in years. I go to chiropractors and massage therapist regularly but I have to say this is the first time in years I haven’t gotten out of bed with a pain in my neck(excuse the pun). He also worked on my wrists and thumbs since they seize up on me quiet a bit. This morning, there’s no pain in either! Do yourself a favor and go see Matt! You’ll be happy that you did!
